In May of this year, we were given the opportunity to help coordinate (and do some planning) for our friends Melissa Orton and Andy Beaty. Clay and Andy were roommates in college and Andy was a groomsman in our wedding. He and Melissa have dated for years and we were super excited to help these two plan their big day! After a very romantic proposal in Paris, Andy and Melissa were looking forward to a beautiful spring/garden wedding! The following photographs are used courtesy of BurlesonBrown Photography in Athens, TN.
The ceremony took place at the Walnut Grove Historic Chapel in Riceville, TN and Melissa chose the color purple for the bridesmaids’ dresses and flowers and decor. A string trio from the University of TN provided the music for the ceremony.
Andy’s mother works for the Arts Council in Athens, TN and reserved the building for their reception. The space fit the guest list perfectly and the italian street-fair lighting the couple rented from Techworks in Nashville really lit up the space. With some votive candles borrowed from the Arts Council and potted plants from a local nursery, the guest’s tables were clean and simple and maintained the spring/garden feel.
Clay and I were able to help the couple design and create the favors, find and book the string group, coordinate the rental of the reception lighting, design and mail rehearsal invitations, instructions and directions, set up the reception site, and organize and coordinate the rehearsal and ceremony.
Melissa looked beautiful in her dress, the flowers were lovely, the food was delicious and the dj kept the guests dancing into the early morning hours. Overall, the wedding was a great success!
