I have enjoyed perusing looking back through these wedding photos to create these blog posts.  So much hard work and love went into this event.  Jena and Trent added some really incredible personal touches to the day, but my favorite part: the flowers! Jena and I searched online for months for inspiration to tie in the dark teal bridesmaids’ dresses and the other colors in the inspiration photo.  My only requirement: pincushion protea, Jena’s favorite flower.

I’ve never been more nervous placing a flower order or scheming for a color palette.  After we decided to forego monochromatic bouquets, Jen gave me free reign and control of the flowers… I lost sleep and stressed for weeks about the orange vs. yellow vs. white ratio for the bouquets.  Would I have enough dahlias for the corsages or enough freesia for the parents’ bouts?  Would the pincushion be healthy and would the DA Juliet’s pair well?

And then this happened.  This will always be my favorite bouquet.  I’ve never had a group of bouquets come so naturally to me.  With the addition of the teal ribbon, this bouquet, to me, is stunning.  And the other floral creations for the day??  Take a look!

As I mentioned, the tablescapes were a labor of love, with almost everyone in the families searching for blue, milkglass, clear and gold vessels.  We visited Goodwill and thrift shops and I borrowed from other planners to create these beauties.  After we cleaned each piece, we mapped out the 5 farm tables on my carport and laid out Every. Single. Piece.  We used drink crates to stand them up and group them together, I labelled them & filled the vessels with water and Jena started putting blooms in them. This allowed for setup on the wedding day to be seamless and a lot less time consuming!

(P.S. My mom made those teal napkin holders!  I come from a long line of incredibly talented, crafty women!)

And my flower post would not be complete without mentioning the sweet Melissa Marie of Melissa Marie Floral Designs who created those babies’ breath wreaths for the front doors and ceremony! These were in one of Jena’s first inspiration photos and I knew they were a must.

And lastly, all of this hard work paid off for these two lovebirds, as their wedding was featured on Wedding Chicks AND in Weddings UK magazine (Oct/Nov 2014)!
